We had our small gathering at our house again this year. I never know when to have it during the day with the kids both having other families to go to now. I think we have it figured out now, earlier in the day so Cole & Tracy can get to the Ziehlkes. Casey's family is around the same time so we still have issues there. This year Casey went to eat with her family then came over to spend the time with us.

Here's Bob cutting up the beer can chicken. Nope, no turkey, I think I am the only one who likes turkey. The same with sweet potatoes, I am usually the only one eating them so I have lots left over. This year Patti made them with "Wild Turkey" in the recipe. Wow what a difference in taste from past years.

This is the only picture I have of Patti, (sorry Patti). I am not sure what the story is here. Chris came later after hunting and ate the leftovers.

Bob, Tammy, and Kylee. I guess the pictures aren't so great this year. We went around the table and said what we are thankful for, Kylee said she was thankful for "pumpkins."

Not much to say about this picure, just smile.

Andy & Casey. This was right when Casey walked in the door and she got shoved into picture mode. Andy said he was thankful for his new house. I will post a picture of it, someday.

Cole, Tracy, and Felicity. It took about 5 takes to get a picture with Felicity smiling. I think this is a great picture of them. Of course everyone around the table said we were thankful for Felicity.

True Friends

I was looking for something to post today, nothing really happening here. I have no pictures of flowers, food, or kids. Then I realized I never posted these pictures from a couple months ago. Here's the story. In September when we were at the cabin we rented, our group of friends from long ago wanted to get together. Four of us live around here but Jodi lives in Florida. She doesn't come home very often so we tried to make the best of it. The problem was.....I was away on vacation that week. Thankfully they made arrangements to get together in Phillips at Nancy's cabin. I was so excited. But now here's the next problem. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not fond of driving, especially when I don't know where I am, or if it is dark. I was determined that I wasn't going to miss this night with the girls, it meant too much to me. So I drove the hour drive (which I know isn't much, but scary for me when I don't know where I am). We met at the cabin, said our hellos, then went to Harbor View to eat. We had a great time catching up and eating good food. We then went back to the cabin and all of a sudden you would think we were back 25 years ago. Believe it or not, there is very little or no alcohol involved in the following photos. We stayed up until 4 in the morning talking and catching up on each other's lives. You know that you have true friends when you can not see each other for months, or even years, and you can pick up right where you left off. These friendships are truly special to me. I will never forget this night and I hope we have many more.

Here we are at Harbor View at the beginning of the night.

I am not sure what is really going on in the picture??

This one is taking down by the water, it was a bit chilly.

We set up our cameras to take these pictures, we had to take many before we got one we liked.

Then of course, a little fun.

Love you girls!!

The Greatest Gift Ever

How do you explain the love for a grandchild? It is pretty amazing. I know those of you who have experienced this before me know exactly what I'm talking about. And those of you who haven't yet, hang on for the best ride of your life. We are fortunate enough to have her living right next door and get to see her everyday. If a day passes that we don't, we go crazy. We appreciate every minute with her and can't wait for more...........

Must See Movie

We went to the movie "Fireproof" last night. Wow, what a great movie. I believe that every married couple should see this movie. It is from the makers of "Facing the Giants." Get that one on video if you haven't seen that too. They are from a Christian company. The first movie they made was "Flywheel," pretty low budget but a great movie also. I can't say enough about it, but take some tissues with you. The only place we could find it showing is at Cedar Creek in Wausau. It is well worth the trip!!

Here is a classic that I have had in my picture box for many years. I remember this day like it was yesterday. It was the 4th of July between 8th grade and freshman year. We were staying at my sister Deb's apartment. This is where we would go when we wanted to run around town. So many people always thought we were twins so we took this picture. I showed this picture to Earl one time and he told me he didn't know who was who. Maybe he did, I don't know. I am still searching through the "old photo box" so you don't know who will be next.

Some of those "Feathered" hairdos

I found some pictures with those hairdos Connie was talking about in her comment. I couldn't actually find one of Connie, but this is the best I can do. (for now) But I did find Kelly!!! The first picture is from Toby & Renee's wedding and the second was taken at our place on the farm.

We thought we were so cool with these matching shirts. I actually still have mine, I think it would probably fit a 5 year old. What's up with that??

Kylee keeping her animals "under control"

I just couldn't resist taking a picture of this. Let me explain. We have a couple dogs here that we put shocker collars on to keep them in order when they go for walks. Sometimes when Brian is gone, and I am taking care of them, they bark a lot. So, I put their collars on them and shock them when they bark too much. Well, Kylee was playing and put all these little rubberbands on her animals. I said, "those are nice necklaces." Kylee then informed me that those are shocker collars because her animals don't listen very well. She doesn't miss a beat around here, she keeps us on our toes.

Even the poor little baby animals have them on..............

Son-in-law, Truck, and a Deer

Last week Brian and Cole met up on the road. Cole rode home with Brian and left his truck in NC. While Cole was driving one night a deer decided to take a walk on the highway, bad mistake for the deer. They taped up the loose peices and headed for home. And no, they didn't keep the mangled deer. They actually didn't even stop at the time. Oh well, what you gonna do? At least they stayed on the road and came home in one piece. That's all that matters.

Our Little Ladybug

Here's Felicity in her costume. She didn't really like the hat part of it but she tollerated it. These were taken at the parade. She LOVED watching the parade. She watched almost the whole thing, totally wide eyed. She had a big day, we went to church, worked on the float, and then went to the parade. She was definately ready to go home at the end of the day.
